Privacy policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026.

This policy explains what data HitLife (hitlife.net.ua), an online magazine about life and travel, collects, why it needs it, whom it shares it with and how to ask for it to be deleted. By using the site you agree to this policy.

1. What data we process

  • Signing in with a social network and comments. If you sign in with a social network, we receive from it your name, profile photo, e-mail address (if you allowed it to be shared) and the identifier of your profile on that network. We never receive your social network password. Your comments are stored with your name and the date and are visible to every visitor.
  • The feedback form. The name, e-mail address, subject and text of the message you send to the editors.
  • Technical data. The IP address, browser type, requested page and time of the request are recorded in the server's logs.
  • Cookies. The site uses necessary cookies: a session cookie (so that you stay signed in), a cookie that protects forms against request forgery (XSRF-TOKEN), and a locale cookie with the language you last read the site in, so that it opens in that language. If web analytics is enabled on the site, the analytics service may set its own cookies (see section 3).

2. Why we use it

  • so that you can sign in and comment on articles, with your comments shown under your name;
  • to reply to your messages;
  • to keep the site working and secure, and to detect errors and abuse;
  • to understand, in aggregate, what readers read, and to improve the magazine.

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

3. Whom the data is shared with

  • The social network you sign in with learns that you signed in to our site; its processing of your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • Web analytics. The site may use Google Analytics for anonymised visit statistics. Google processes this data under its privacy policy. The advertising features of analytics are disabled.
  • Hosting. The server that runs the site stores the database and the logs.
  • Public authorities, only where the law requires it.

4. How long we keep it

  • your account and comments: as long as the site publishes them or until you ask for them to be deleted;
  • feedback messages: as long as they are needed to reply to you and for the editors' correspondence;
  • server logs: for the limited time needed to run and secure the site.

5. Your rights

You can find out what data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, withdraw your consent to its processing, and complain to the data protection authority. To do so, write to us using the form below.
